The Conscious and the Subconscious Mind. These are massive subjects which strangely don’t get too much serious consideration in our modern lives.
Look at other cultures, look at tribal people even look back even to our Western culture of the early 20th Century with the New Thought Movement.
You will see a great importance placed upon the Subconscious Mind and it’s effect upon our thinking, our perception and our entire reality.

What is The Subconscious Mind?
The best way I believe to understand the subconscious is the picture of the Garden (Subconscious), Gardener (Conscious) and then the fruit from this Garden.
This garden is great it just believes and accepts everything. Whatever is planted will grow whether it is a good seed or a bad seed.
Of course if we then water that seed with like minded thoughts it will grow even quicker.
There is then a fruit from this thought. Which in turn creates a chain.
This could be the opportunity for success that we have been focusing on waiting expectantly for it to manifest.
Or the little fear we had at the back of our mind that we allowed to fester and grow into something very real.
So we get to decide what will be grown in the garden by what we allow to dwell in our Conscious Mind.
That for me at least is a refreshingly positive look at the saying ‘we reap what we sow’.
We surely do but it all begins with what we sow in our own minds first and foremost.
What does The Subconscious Mind do?
What doesn’t it do! Even our conscious thoughts that we call our own are shaped and formed by the environment and the silent whispers from our good friend the Subconscious Mind.
So the garden influences the gardener and the gardener plants the seed for the next fruit.
Lets firstly look at how the Subconscious effects our amazing body.
Do you remember when you were in class getting instructions on how to operate your Kidneys? What about when you learnt how to activate your immune system?
What you never had that class?
But your body operates perfectly! Who operates all that stuff in the body then?
Guess who our good friend the Subconscious takes care of it all. Every movement, reaction, response and habit that we just do without thinking comes from this.
But wait there is more!
It shapes our mentality too. Our whole idea of who we think we are and what is possible for us!
Just think how vast and meaningful that is. That is EPIC!
The old saying of the person who thinks they can or thinks they can’t is usually right.
But what makes that person believe they can or they cant? You guessed it, its the operating system we have in place.
So it creates our perception of who we are and what we can do in this reality down to every little detail. Our thoughts, our responses, first impressions, likes and dislikes and our dreams and goals.
Now if that wasn’t enough! For the spiritually minded among us the Subconscious also practically manifests reality.
We can dwell upon a thing and see the manifestation of circumstances to make this possible until finally it arrives.

How what we dwell upon (Concentrate upon) becomes our reality.
This positive thinking is not all just positive thinking 🙂 There is science and men in white coats behind all of this.
We are related to the world within by the subconscious mind. The solar plexus is the organ of this mind. The sympathetic system of nerves presides over all subjective sensations, such as joy, fear, love, emotion, respiration, imagination, and all other subconscious phenomena. It is through the subconscious that we are connected with the Universal Mind and brought into relation with the Infinite constructive forces of the Universe.

I hope I have not under played the importance and scope of the Subconscious. It is the source of power operating in our lives manifesting realities 24 hours 7 days per week
It never stops until the goal is achieved. It is our greatest ally or our greatest foe dependent upon what kind of gardener we are.
How To Work With The Subconscious
There are hundreds of methods out there but really it all comes down to one controlling factor.
How we take control of that is a whole other discussion 🙂
We know that the Subconscious mind will take whatever we give it as fact.
So it makes sense that we should be very careful what we allow to dwell in our mind. Even the feeling of the thought should not be allowed to dwell unless we want to see that in our lives.
Preparation: Become Aware Of Our Thoughts
Awareness we hear it said all the time. Be aware, be awake, be in the now!
But how? If you have read my meditation articles then you will be familiar with the term Will Force or Nerve Force.
We need some juice! We need some power to ensure we can overcome our habitual actions.
Just doing this will show us immediately how much control we have over our mind….or not!
Exercise: Get yourself an Analogue clock with an Hour, Minutes and Seconds hand.
Look at the end of the Seconds hands.
Do not let any other thought, image, pre thought, feeling etc distract you.
Do not fool yourself (Remember any lack of focus, any diminished focus). Any moment you are not 100% laser focused up on the Seconds hand counts as a distraction and the time restarts.
Target time is 10 minutes with ZERO distraction.
We learn from this that despite our conscious decision to focus something else is operating within our mind that is allowing these distractions.
That we are not the master of ourselves.
So though we can of course work with the subconscious right now without this preparation I feel that everything is better with a mind that is Master of itself….at least for 10 minutes at a time 🙂
What Do You Want?
Now think carefully what do you want in you life? Notice I didn’t say what don’t you want.
Let’s not fight negatives instead lets build new habits that override these with positivity.
So maybe you want to use these methods for getting up early, no problem you do this and will see success super quick as its an internal process.
Or maybe you want wealth and success. This obviously requires your reality to change.
So takes longer. The key to understand is that before you attain the thing whatever that may be, you first attain the consciousness of that state.
The frequency. It takes some time for what means to really be understood I know I keep getting a new ‘aha’ moment of it every month.
But once you get a feeling for what this means you can experiment and start seeing the results.
That means a life full of whatever YOU want lays ahead! 🙂
1 – Auto Suggestion
This is simple. Create a short phrase in the present.
Make it positive. For example ‘I am a happy non smoker’ rather than ‘I don’t smoke’.
Don’t ask me why but it seems to work better this way.
I use some beads (108) and do several rounds of beads passing one bead for each repetition.
Even if you don’t believe or have the confidence in all of this, with consistent auto suggestion planting positive words into the subconscious will start to change the environment of the mind.
2 – Visualize What You Want
Think of this like an organized day dream, one suggestion also is to be specific without removing options.
So rather than focusing on a red Ferrari I would suggest focusing on abundance and wealth.
See yourself in wonderful clothes in beautiful cars and restaurants, whatever wealth means to you.
The more you do it the more clarity you will get like any good day dream
3 – Feel What You Want
When you are visualizing or even just in day to day life actually feel the quality of what it would be like to have what you desire.
Feel it and walk, talk and behave like that is your reality. Sure it hasn’t manifested…yet, but start living like it already has.
4 – Confidently Expect
Remember that seed you planted? Well if you keep digging it up and doubting its growth you will kill it off.
Plant the seed and let subconscious do its work. We have no way to fathom how our desires will manifest but that is not our job.
We just focus on the end result and confidently wait.
Then we listen for and be open to opportunities that arise. The stiller our minds the more we will notice opportunities and our intuition telling us to go for something.

5 – Make It A Habit
It doesn’t come over night. Make this a daily habit and be watchful of the opportunities that come your way.
Don’t immediately say no to something because it doesn’t fit what you expected.
Following the old ways hasn’t got us what we wanted to now lets try a different approach. Listen to that small voice inside and take action when it shows up.
Make this practice of Step 1-5 your morning and evening habit.
Just Do It
Nothing else to be said but go practice. Put this into action.
Practice twice for everything you read.
I will list out some other good resources below of people who found their way with the help of the Subconscious but none of that helps if we don’t go and do that for ourselves.
So today take 5 minutes for yourself and start the journey.
Check yourself, speak kindly to yourself. Be your biggest supporter and soon enough the Subconscious will be right there with you.
